Two More Canadian Startups to Pitch Investors at Google’s Annual Demo Day

Two Canadian startups are hoping to follow in the footsteps of Waterloo’s Bridgit, who recently took the top prize at Google for Entrepreneur’s Demo Day in Silicon Valley.

Founded by Lauren Lake and Mallorie Brodie (pictured), Bridgit won Google for Entrepreneur’s inaugural Demo Day: Women’s Edition in December.

This time around Waterloo’s Knowledgehook and Halifax’s PACTA have been invited by Google to pitch to investors at their annual Demo Day next month.

Representing Communitech, Edtech startup Knowledgehook was part of the ACJumpStart program and is behind a new gaming software that analyzes the academic performance of math students.

Representing Notman House, PACTA turns contracts into smart contracts, enabling companies to keep track of their signed contracts on any device, across teams, departments and organizations.

Google for Entrepreneurs works with ten tech hub partners across North America (called the North American Tech Hub Network) to identify great startups to represent their city at Demo Day. Communitech and Notman House are partners.

With the aim of securing additional rounds of investment, Knowledgehook co-founders Travis Ratnam and James Francis are excited to pitch on stage to a full room of investors, VCs and respected judges at the Google Headquarters in Mountain View.

“We’re thrilled to share our software with potential investors,” Ratnam told Techvibes. “We believe our products will be pivotal in connecting teachers and school boards all over the world with data that identifies what concepts students are struggling with and also provides them with immediate teaching solutions.”

Since March 2015, Knowledgehook software has been used by more than 65,000 students and teachers in math classes throughout Canada and the United States.
