Aftermath of Brexit: Microsoft to Raise Prices in UK, Apple Already Did

Unfortunate consequences of Britain’s vote to leave the European Union continue to crop up. The latest will affect companies that use Microsoft products, which is most of them: Microsoft is increasing the prices of its enterprise software and cloud services by up to 22%.

The move is a result of the falling pound, which dropped following the “Brexit” earlier this year. The new prices will come into effect January 1. Consumer product prices will not be affected, however.

“We periodically assess the impact of local pricing of our products and services to ensure there is reasonable alignment across the region and this change is an outcome of this assessment,” Microsoft said on its blog.

Microsoft is not the only tech firm to respond to the Brexit with price hikes. Apple’s latest generation of iPhone came in 16% more expensive than last year’s model.
