These are the Winners of the 2016 Canadian FinTech Awards
The Digital Finance Institiute this week announced the winners of the 2016 Canadian FinTech Awards.
The FinTech Awards honour and recognize innovators, investors, banks, impactors and advisors across Canad in the financial technology space. This year’s event was held on Monday at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and was attended by 500 people.
CIBC won Financial Institution Innovator of the Year.

OMERS Ventures won Investor of the Year, while DMZ took homethe Accelerator, Incubator or Entrepreneurial Network Award. Here’s the fill list:

- Academic Institution Most Supportive of FinTech Award: Zone Startup – Ryerson University
- Governance, Thought Leader or Organization of the Year Award: FinTech Association of Canada
- Professional Services Firm of the Year Award: Wildeboer Dellelce LLP
- Accelerator, Incubator or Entrepreneurial Network Award: DMZ
- Judge’s Choice Award: Tapscott Group and Ferst Capital Partners
The Digital Finance Institute is a Vancouver -based thinktank which addresses issues facing financial innovation, digital finance policy and regulation and supports the research and partnership between long-standing institutions and fintechs.
