Website Builder Wix Buys Artist Community DeviantArt for $36 Million

Wix has acquired DeviantArt in an all-cash deal, the Israeli company announced today.

The popular website building platform bought the Los Angeles-based online community for artists for $36 million. It also raised its revenue outlook for 2017 to $418 million.

DeviantArt, which has 40 million registered users, will maintain its own brand. Wix has more than 100 million users.

CEO Angela Sotira, who cofounded DeviantArt in 2000, will join Wix’s management team, according to Reuters.
