Amazon Acquires Thinkbox Software to Bolster AWS Technology

Amazon has acquired Thinkbox Software, a company that provides software for managing media rendering workloads.

The price tag on Thinkbox, founded in 2012, was not revealed. The company has roughly 40 employees, mostly in Los Angeles and Winnipeg, where the company was founded.

Thinkbox, whose technology has been used in moves like “Avatar” and “Thor,” will join Amazon Web Services as part of the deal.

The startup was founded by Chris Bond, who previously owned Frantic Films, which he sold.
