Extremely High Demand for Developers in Canada, Data Shows

There is no shortage of evidence that developers are in extraordinarily high demand in Canada.

More than 180,000 information and communications technology positions will need to be filled by 2019, according to the Information and Communications Technology Council.

Reinforcing this supply and demand gap, Indeed compiled two lists—the tech jobs that are most in-demand by Canadian companies and the ones that are hard-to-fill—and both are dominated by developer roles, as you can see below.

Educational institutions like BrainStation are attempting to address this gap in supply and demand by training developers. Recruiting events like our Techfest also contribute to narrowing the gap.

And while these efforts are certainly making a positive difference, one notion remains clear: if you want to find well-paying work in Canada, becoming a developer is a great place to start.
