CB Insights has named this year’s Fintech 250, a list of “emerging fintech companies that will change the face of financial services.”
The list recognizes the 250 most promising, private fintech companies. This year’s list has companies from 23 countries, who were chosen from more than 2,000 entries.
“The financial services industry will see more change in the next 10 years than it has in the last 100,” said Anand Sanwal, cofounder of CB, at The Future of Fintech conference in New York earlier this week. “And that transformation is being driven by a group of smart insurgent startup companies. They are bringing emerging technologies and business models to financial services that will permanently change the way we handle money and do business.”
Companies on the Fintech 250 raised a combined $14 billion across 240 deals in 2016. The list includes names like AngelList, Stripe, Wealthsimple, Artivest, and Trulioo.
“Being ranked alongside fintech companies of such a high caliber is very humbling,” said Stephen Ufford, CEO of Trulioo. “Fintech is a fast-developing and ever-changing industry and because of this, identity verification is extremely important.”
“The financial services industry is being transformed by emerging companies that are applying new technologies to address longstanding challenges,” noted James Waldinger, CEO of Artivest.
