Vancouver-based Later unveiled two new features they promise will simplify the scheduling, reviewing and posting of photos across social media platforms.
The visual marketing platform now lets users share its Instagram calendar—used for scheduling posts—with just a link. Anyone with this link can open up and view the content calendar in a web browser on a smartphone, tablet or desktop. These scheduled grams can also be previewed before posting to see how they’ll appear on Instagram in both a user’s feed and as a stand alone post, helping users double-check that a pic or video is consistent with their aesthetic.
“After seeing the complicated workflows that people were using to get approval or seek feedback on their Instagram feed, we knew we could build a better way to collaborate on Instagram posts,” said Taylor Loren, Later’s content marketing manager, in a post.
The content calendar was updated to show scheduled posts for all platforms and profiles and lets a company share scheduled dates and times.
A new scheduling feature means that one post can be shared to multiple networks at the same time and customized for each platform. Users can adjust a photo’s crop and size for each network and write a unique caption for the post before it’s simultaneously published online. On Instagram, the same post can also be published to multiple Instagram profiles at once.
“[The] new scheduler makes it easy to tailor your content so you have the right crop, tone, and caption for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. No more cut-off tweets or wrong @handles tagged on Facebook,” wrote Loren.
The Vancouver company was once exclusive to Instagram content, but expanded their services to post content on other social media platforms in 2015. Later has more than 600,000 registered users, including Lonely Planet, The Huffington Post, and the Wall Street Journal.
