Vancouver Startup Week Returns to Connect City’s Entrepreneurs

Vancouver Startup Week is back for another year, attracting hundreds of entrepreneurs, innovators, investors and stakeholders from the city’s budding startup community.

Running from Sept. 25 to 29, the event bills itself as the largest annual series of events in greater Vancouver’s technology and innovation sectors.

The week-long celebration includes 50 events this year, with an overarching focus to improve access to capital and deepen Vancouver’s tech talent pool.

“We want to help entrepreneurs connect with key stakeholders while celebrating their achievements,” the organizers said.

Techstars, Stripe and Later are a few of the companies speaking at this year’s startup week. Dozens of tech talks will focus on a host of topics and company growth stories, addressing common challenges within the industry, lessons learned and even how to perfect the ever-so important elevator pitch.

The annual event kicks off today with its signature 48-hour long Hackathon running until Sept. 24 where the top ten projects compete for the grand prize valued at $20,000.

After the Hackathon wraps up, the New Ventures BC Competition Awards and the official #VSW2017 launch party will take place on Sept. 25. Later in the week on Sept. 28, attendees can walk into the offices of 25 Vancouver companies during the Startup Open House.

Three years since the November 2014 launch, Vancouver Startup Week was the first designated startup week in Canada, inspiring other cities across the country to start hosting similar events.

Registration is open online.
