Platterz Serves Up $18 Million Round to Expand Catering Platform

Success in the business and tech world is all about catering to the needs of your users.

Platterz has done just that with the new announcement of a $18 million Series A. The Toronto-based company offers an industry-leading platform that has reinvented what corporate catering looks like. Businesses can easily order, customize and visualize what kinds of food they are purchasing for employees and events.

Along with the announcement of the funding, Platterz has shared that Jonathan Zabusky, former President of GrubHub and CEO of Seamless, and Ran Makavy, EVP of Growth at Lyft and former Director of Product Management at Facebook have joined the team as advisors.

In Toronto and New York City, Platterz is serving over 1,000 businesses, including huge names like Apple and Shopify.

The platform lets users customize all the different restaurants and food options in real-time and see the price updated as they go along. The live price updates and changes based on location, the amount of food ordered, and the different variations added on to the top. Users can even augment their choices based on dietary restrictions, and delivery—though it’s a small extra fee–is part of the process, meaning every step is accounted for.

Platterz is a refreshing take on the corporate catering world that often hides total pricing until the very last second and makes the process more of a headache than it should be. The company built on a strong tech platform that thrives in the world of catered team lunches and increased focuses on building company culture.

The selection is vast on Platterz, as clients can order from independent restaurants like Toronto BBQ joint Barque along with large chain brands like Shopsy’s. The catering platform is also constantly adding new options for users to choose from.

This is not the first funding round for the catering tech company. Last year Platterz raised $6.7 million to build out their machine learning and automation features.
