Accenture Opens New Innovation Hub in Toronto

One of the largest services companies in the world is making moves to improve how Canadian companies access the digital economy.

Accenture today opened a brand new innovation hub in downtown Toronto in a bid to help their clients compete and transform in an ever-changing digital world. Located in the heart of the city’s financial district at 40 King Street West, the new space will allow clients to work side-by-side with Accenture teams and innovate together, creating new prototypes and scaling them quickly. There will be an emphasis placed on the human approach, leveraging Accenture’s global footprint to better guide Canadian clients on their path to success.

On top of the new innovation hub, Accenture will add 800 new highly-skilled technology jobs by the end of 2020 and expand their existing apprenticeship program. So far, there are more than 300 designers, data scientists and innovators in the hub.

“Our experience working with global clients across more than 40 industries has shown that continuous innovation is imperative to succeed in the fast-changing digital economy,” said Julie Sweet, Accenture’s CEO for North America. “With our network of innovation hubs, we are bringing innovation to our clients’ doorsteps, enabling them to harness the power of emerging technologies to transform their businesses.”

This new hub is part of a larger network of 10 hubs across North America. Together, those locations tap into over 100 Accenture offices around the globe.

“It’s an exciting time for technology growth in Toronto,” said Toronto Mayor John Tory. “The number of companies that have invested in the City is a reflection of the access to a high-quality labour force, a committed business community, and a government that embraces new opportunities. The Accenture Innovation Hub represents a new approach to business and technology collaboration. I’m proud to see this hub open in the heart of our city.”

The companies Tory is referring to include Microsoft, NVIDIA and Uber, who all recently announced major investments in the city. Accenture joins those global brands by announcing their investment into Toronto innovation. Accenture is no stranger to working with tech leaders in Canada—last year, the massive organization partnered with quantum tech startup 1QBit, and Accenture’s AI division—along with leader Jodie Wallis—recognizes the importance of the emerging field as a token of Canada’s tech prowess.
