Canadian Startup Seamless Planet Lands $100,000 from Steve Case

In February Techvibes reported that two Canadian companies had been selected to pitch at Google for Entrepreneurs Demo Day in Silicon Valley.

Startups in cities all around the world are building incredible companies but many lack access to the robust investment opportunities of Silicon Valley.

Google recognizes that innovation is alive beyond the confines of a few cities and Google for Entrepreneurs Demo Day aims to help with that problem. The pitch event focuses on highlighting top companies located outside areas with highly developed venture capital markets.

Last week Waterloo’s Sweet Tooth and Montreal’s Seamless Planet made the trek to participate.

Sweet Tooth lets small and medium-sized ecommerce store owners create their own customer loyalty program within minutes. FounderFuel-accelerated Seamless Planet is a channel management system for independent travel companies.

At the pitch competition judge Steve Case, chairman and CEO of Revolution and co-founder of AOL, committed to investing $100,000 in four female founded startups, including Seamless Planet. Seamless Planet was cofounded by Sara Ahmadian (pictured, second from the left) and Ramin Hazegh.

“These are impressive companies with amazing potential and are exactly the types of companies that I am excited to invest in,” Case said in a news release.
