ShoeMe.ca Acquires Talent from Zappos, YYOGA and Coastal Contacts to Expand Its Exec Team

ShoeMe.ca today announced it’s appointed three impactful hires to its executive team.

Aaron Brown, one of the original senior members of Zappos.com; Matt Fraser, former President of YYOGA; and Curtis Petersen, former VP of Marketing at Coastal Contacts.

“The expertise and depth of experience these hires bring to our executive team positions us well for the rapid growth we’re undergoing,” said Sean Clark, Co-Founder CEO of ShoeMe.ca. “These executives bring decades of combined e-commerce, retail, and marketing experience, which will be integral as we continue to redefine the shopping experience for Canadian consumers.”

Brown, recently appointed Vice President of Merchandising at ShoeMe.ca, joined Zappos.com when most of the industry didn’t believe in online footwear sales and was with them to $1 billion in annual sales. He was Director of Merchandising who worked on identifying and building out new lifestyle and product categories, while keeping the performance side of the business directly under his supervision.

Fraser, who takes on the role of Chief Operating Officer at ShoeMe.ca, brings years of experience developing scalable business plans having overseen YYOGA’s growth from one studio to 10 with expansion into Eastern Canada. Petersen, ShoeMe.ca’s newly appointed Chief Marketing Officer, spent several years at Coastal Contacts Inc. where he oversaw the online eyewear giant’s marketing/advertising department.

“The market opportunity for the premium branded online business in Canada is vast,” shared Brown. “Online footwear sales in Canada account for only 2 per cent of the total sales, compared to 15 per cent in every other advanced economy. I’m very excited to be joining the ShoeMe.ca team at this critical stage of growth.”

The ShoeMe.ca team has doubled in size since January 2014. Former Coastal Contacts founder and CEO Roger Hardy has invested an undisclosed amount in ShoeMe.ca.
