The OSMO Foundation, a non-profit entity, was was created by investors, technology and media executives and the community itself. Its mission is to use its financial resources to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, experience and relationships from experienced entrepreneurs and their support ecosystems to aspiring entrepreneurs. Supporters from the tech innovation community include the Partners at seed investment fund, Montreal Start Up, the founders of coworking space, Station C and one of the founders of the worldwide coworking movement (recently relocated to Montreal). Also involved are the organisers of Startup Camp Montreal, the event where a number of Montreal-area startups have been launched to audiences of more than 300 people, as well as leaders of the Enterprise 2.0 community and the french and english blogging communities. Anchor founders also have strong ties with individuals, groups and collaborative projects around the world—from Berlin to San Francisco, New York to Paris, Vancouver to Chiang Mai. The OSMO foundation will enable the Montreal tech innovation milieu to connect even more strongly with these other like-minded communities around the world, with obvious benefits for the city and the local economy.
